Things To Do
Ennis is a perfect vacation destination because it is central to so much of what makes Montana such a special place. In addition to being one of America’s preeminent fly fishing destinations, Ennis is blessed with incomparable natural surroundings.

For outdoor and nature enthusiasts, the Beaverhead National Forest, the Lee Metcalf Wilderness Area, Red Rock Lakes National Wildlife Refuge, the Centennial Valley and Yellowstone National Park provide unparalleled access to wildlife, high mountain lakes and meadows and unsurpassed natural beauty. There are innumerable trails for horseback riding, hiking and driving into these spectacular places. Local guides and outfitters can help plan any type of trip from a half-day jaunt and picnic to a two-week mule train excursion. The many rivers and lakes also provide wonderful opportunities for white water rafting, water skiing or just a casual inner tube float on a warm sunny day. There are also several 9- and 18-hole golf courses in the area.

For the western history and cowboy enthusiasts, this is where it all happens - from today’s famous Ennis rodeo in July to the historic towns of yesterday such as Virginia City , Nevada City and Alder Gulch, where guns were slinged, gold was mined and stolen and bandits were hung and buried in boot hill. It’s been said that only the Smithsonian Museum has more western artifacts than can be found here.

Ennis is not only about exploring nature and history, but it can also provide more refined vacation opportunities. Ennis is within an hour of Bozeman, home to the Bozeman Symphony Orchestra, the Museum of the Rockies, many fine art galleries and theatre groups and exceptional dining. Ennis is a prefect point of departure for vacations that combine rustic day trips with evenings spent at the symphony or at one of the many fine restaurants in the surrounding area. That’s why we’re here.
